Patrons have access to the library’s copier near the circulation desk.  It is a multifunctional device that can be used to:

  • Copy and print in black or color. Copies are $.10 per page/side for black, and $.25 for color. Special printing options such as 2 sided and collated are available. Please note the copier only uses plain white standard copy paper. No special paper, such as card stock, can be used. It can print on 8 1/2″ X 11″, 8 1/2″ X 14″, and 11″ X 17″ size paper for legal and other document needs.
  • Scan documents and photographic media as a PDF, TIFF, or JPG. Scanned documents or images can be sent to an email address as an attachment. Scanning to an email is free of charge.
  • Faxing service is available for outbound faxes only, the library does not accept inbound faxes. The library will provide a cover sheet at no cost. International faxing is not available, only local and long-distance domestic faxing is offered. The cost is $1.00 for the first faxed page, and $.50 for subsequent pages. Payment will only be collected if the fax is sent successfully. Patrons are required to stay until the fax is sent.

You can download a complete Fax Use Policy statement (PDF).

Computer/Internet workstations

The library has computers available for public use on a first-come, first-served basis. The computers feature a wide range of software as well as the library’s online catalog, word processing, and access to the Internet. Audio headsets are also available for use with the workstations.

Patrons with a valid Escanaba Public Library card are entitled to use an Internet workstation for 60 minutes per day.  Non-residents may use a 15-minute express machine or a guest card for 60 minutes of computer time. Extensions are offered if other workstations are available.

Additional information about using the Internet in the library is available by downloading the Internet use policy (PDF). Computer users may bring in their own flash drive for downloading. Flash drives are available for purchase for $5.00. Printing is available at a cost of $.10 per page for black and $.25 for color.

Catalog Workstations

To ensure access to the library’s collections, two online catalog workstations are reserved for those using the e-catalog. They are available to all library users to help them locate resources available through the Escanaba Public Library and MeL (Michigan Electronic Library).

Research Workstations

Library users have access to a computer workstation to search family history in the microfilm room. These workstations provide links to the Ancestry Library and other family history databases.

Another workstation is available with a ScanPro digital microfilm reader. It can be used to save or print images from a microfilm. A manual/analog machine for microfilm is also available.

unnamedWireless Internet Access

A wireless network (ESC Library Guest) is available free-of-charge for the convenience of users with personal laptop computers, tablets and phones. The WiFi network does not require a password and is unsecured. WiFi users can use the wireless network without time limit, during normal library hours. Users can also access the WiFi from the parking lot and surrounding areas near the library. Parking lot rules apply.

Our wireless internet access policy can be found here (PDF).

Printing services

Printing from the Internet workstations is available for black ($.10 per page) and color ($.25 per page) printing. The printing default is for black. Patrons can select the color option from the printing menu.

If printing from a mobile device, make sure you are connected to the library’s Wi-Fi network, ESC Library Guest in order to enable printing from your device. The printer’s name is Wireless Printer. Print jobs can be obtained at the circulation desk and via the drive-up window.

Wireless printing in both black and color is available.

iPads, Hotspots, and Chromebooks

The library circulates iPad tablets, hotspots, and Chromebooks. They may be borrowed during normal hours and checked-out for 7 days with an opportunity to renew once for another 7 days if there are no holds. Checkouts for these items are limited to one kit per month, per household.

You must have a valid Escanaba Public Library card to check out the devices and be 13 years or older.

The Children and Young Adult areas both offer iPads with headphones for use in the library. Age appropriate educational and informational apps are installed on the iPads.
