The library has computers available for public use on a first-come, first-served basis. The computers feature a wide range of software as well as the library’s online catalog, word processing, and access to the Internet. Audio headsets are also available for use with the workstations.
Patrons with a valid Escanaba Public Library card are entitled to use an Internet workstation for 60 minutes per day. Non-residents may use a 15-minute express machine or a guest card for 60 minutes of computer time. Extensions are offered if other workstations are available.
Additional information about using the Internet in the library is available by downloading the Internet use policy (PDF). Computer users may bring in their own flash drive for downloading. Flash drives are available for purchase for $5.00. Printing is available at a cost of $.10 per page for black and $.25 for color.
To ensure access to the library’s collections, two online catalog workstations are reserved for those using the e-catalog. They are available to all library users to help them locate resources available through the Escanaba Public Library and MeL (Michigan Electronic Library).
Library users have access to a computer workstation to search family history in the microfilm room. These workstations provide links to the Ancestry Library and other family history databases.
Another workstation is available with a ScanPro digital microfilm reader. It can be used to save or print images from a microfilm. A manual/analog machine for microfilm is also available.
A wireless network (ESC Library Guest) is available free-of-charge for the convenience of users with personal laptop computers, tablets and phones. The WiFi network does not require a password and is unsecured. WiFi users can use the wireless network without time limit, during normal library hours. Users can also access the WiFi from the parking lot and surrounding areas near the library. Parking lot rules apply.

Printing from the Internet workstations is available for black ($.10 per page) and color ($.25 per page) printing. The printing default is for black. Patrons can select the color option from the printing menu.
If printing from a mobile device, make sure you are connected to the library’s Wi-Fi network, ESC Library Guest in order to enable printing from your device. The printer’s name is Wireless Printer. Print jobs can be obtained at the circulation desk and via the drive-up window.
Wireless printing in both black and color is available.
The library circulates iPad tablets, hotspots, and Chromebooks. They may be borrowed during normal hours and checked-out for 7 days with an opportunity to renew once for another 7 days if there are no holds. Checkouts for these items are limited to one kit per month, per household.

The Children and Young Adult areas both offer iPads with headphones for use in the library. Age appropriate educational and informational apps are installed on the iPads.
