Patrons can now use an EPSON flat-bed scanner in the Microfilm/fiche room. Holds copy up to 8 1/2″ X 11″. Scans documents and photographic media and saves in common formats such as .jpeg and .pdf. Files can be saved on a patron’s flash drive, printed, or sent via a web based email program as an attachment.
The library now offers a public faxing service. The service is available at the Reference Desk during the library’s open hours.
- The library provides an outgoing fax service; incoming faxes cannot be received.
- A cover sheet is provided by the library at no cost
- Local and long distance (domestic) faxing is available. International faxing is not available.
- The cost is $1.00 for the first faxed page; .50 for subsequent pages. Payment is accepted at the main checkout desk (cash or check only) and will be collected when fax has been sent.
- You must stay until fax is sent. All original documents are returned to the requestor.

The library has a copy machine that makes copies in black and white and color. The cost is $.10 per page and per side for black and $.25 for color. Special printing options such as 2 sided and collated are available. Please ask library staff for assistance. The copier uses only plain white standard copy paper. No special paper can be used such as card stock. Copier can print on 8 1/2″ X 11″, 8 1/2″ X 14″ and 11″ X 17″ size paper for legal and other document needs.
The library has computers available for public use on a first-come, first-served basis. The computers feature a wide range of software as well as the library’s online catalog, word processing and access to the Internet. Audio headsets are also available for use with the workstations.
Patrons with a valid Escanaba Public Library card are entitled to use an Internet workstation for 90 minutes per day. Use of the computers is free for library cardholders. Non-residents may use a 15-minute express machine for free, or purchase a $1.00 guest card for 90 minutes of computer time.
Additional information about using the Internet in the library is available by downloading the Internet use policy (PDF). Computer users may bring in their own flash drive for downloading. Flash drives are available for purchase for $5.00. Printing is available at a cost of $.10 per page for black and $.25 for color.
To ensure access to the library’s collections, two workstations are reserved for those using the e-catalog. Signs at the workstations indicate “Catalog Only”. Use of these stations is free and open to all library users to help them locate materials.
Library users have have access to two computer workstations to search family history in the microfilm room. These workstations provide links to Ancestry Library and other family history databases.
Wireless Internet access
A wireless network (esclibwirelessnew) is available free-of-charge for the convenience of users with personal laptop computers, tablets and phones. Download our wireless-access-faq (PDF) for more information. Also, download our wireless internet access policy (PDF). The WiFi network does not require a password and is unsecured. WiFi users can use the wireless network without time limit, during normal library hours.
Printing from the Internet workstations is available for black ($.10 per page) and color ($.25 per page) printing. The printing default is for black. Patrons can select the color option from the printing menu.
If printing from a mobile device, make sure you are connected to the library’s WiFi network, esclibwirelessnew in order to enable printing from your device.
Laptops and iPads
The library circulates laptop computers for use in the library. They may be borrowed during normal open hours and will connect to the library’s wireless network. Wireless printing in both black and color are available. You must have a valid Escanaba Public Library card to “check-out” a laptop. This program is currently suspended.
The Children’s and Young Adults areas both offer iPads with headphones for use in the library. Age appropriate educational and informational apps are pre-loaded on the iPads.
